Birmingham Bullring and Frankfurt Christmas Market

Bullring is the glamorous heart of Birmingham. Over 160 of the most imaginative and desirable shops for you to explore - including Selfridges and Debenhams. All right here in the centre of things and undercover.

Adjacent, will be the Frankfurt Christmas Market, and the Christmas Craft Fair extends into Chamberlain Square where Birmingham’s own traders offer their own selection of beautifully hand-crafted items, created by local artisans. Together these events bring a fabulous atmosphere to the city and an even better aroma!

The largest authentic German market outside Germany and Austria and the centrepiece of the city’s festive event calendar returns to Birmingham each year in mid November for 5 weeks. Explore over 180 stalls selling gifts, jewellery, decorations, handmade toys, delicious German fare and of course the ever popular Glühwein!

10 things to do at the market

1. Eat a German Bratwurst & Brezel

German Bratwurst (white or red sausage) and Brezel are traditional German foods

2. Have a hot Glühwein (mulled wine)

Glühwein is a traditional and loved hot acoholic Christmas drink which is usually made of white and red wine and various spices such as cinnamon, cloves, lemon slices and aniseed. It is the perfect drink for a cold winter night.

3. Indulge yourself with chocolaty Crêpes

Although Crêpes are a traditional French dessert, they are one of the various food highlights of the German Christmas market. Topped with hot chocolate sauce or filled with banana, they are a must-do.

4. Sing along with the singing moose

Over the years, Birmingham's singing Christmas moose (Chris Moose) has become a Christmas attraction in his own right. Located directly in front of the Council House entrance, the singing moose (Chris to his mates) guarantees a Christmassy atmosphere and a lot of fun for young and old.

5. Get traditional Christmas decorations

The traditional Christmas Craft Fair offers Christmas decorations and handcrafts. A wide range of candles, jewellery, Christmas tree decorations, tea, Christmas cards and much more - make it easy to find the right Christmas present for the one you love.

6. Listen to traditional Carols & Christmas songs

7. Drink a crisp German beer

8. Take a ride on the Carousel

9. Get a lovely wooly hat with bobbles

10. Soak up the Christmassy atmosphere

There's nothing more festive than the Frankfurt Market. Soak up the yuletide spirit, goodwill to all men and joy to the world!
